North Harbor’s Family Ministry department is passionate about partnering with parents to help lead students (6th-12th grade) toward a growing relationship with Jesus we do this through connection, learning, and practicing (See below). We utilize fun, engaging, and age-specific ministry environments to ignite and grow faith in students, while  supporting and encouraging parents as the primary spiritual leaders in each student's life.

NH’s Cozy Floodgate Space

Our growing teen group are often volunteering, supporting each other & growing together!

Floodgate is North Harbor's Junior High and High School ministry.  We meet weekly throughout the school year to connect with God and each other, learn the story of God and our place in it, and practice the habits that help us sustain a life of faith. Each week we play a game, study Scripture, and discuss how to apply the Bible's truth to our lives. Once a month we do a special “fun night” outing and we seek to participate in regular community service and missions opportunities to develop the habit of self-giving that is foundational to a vibrant faith.

Parent partnering is the driving force behind every aspect of Family Ministry at North Harbor. We believe that our role in your student's faith development is secondary to yours; since parents are the primary spiritual leaders in their child’s life (Deut. 6), we strive to support, equip, and encourage parents to lead the effort in helping their teen develop a life of faith. To that end, we offer annual trainings like our Spiritual Parenting class, periodic parent meetings and Milestones Classes to give you the tools to walk your student through decisions like salvation and baptism, and regular resources through parent emails.  We are here to support you!

Our incredible team of caring, trained, background-checked volunteers and staff count it a privilege to serve your family. We hope to see you at Floodgate very soon!

In Floodgate we connect. Relationship is foundational to growth, and belonging is a core desire of every human heart. When we truly connect with each other in safe spaces where we honor differences, seek to understand one another and offer full and unconditional acceptance to one another, we will thrive. We create that atmosphere together at Floodgate and know that we can experience God in profound ways through connections with our peers and leaders.

In Floodgate we learn. Engaging in a faith tradition with a history that extends back thousands of years and with a sacred text dating to ancient times (but still So relevant today) is a challenging adventure and requires some humility, some humor, and some homework for us all. Far from boring, the rich and beautiful story of the Bible and history of the church reveal that Jesus is at work in all times and all places and invites us into a story much larger than our own.

In Floodgate we practice. Following Jesus' lead is a whole-life experience. Practices like prayer, meditation on Scripture, service, silence, solitude, fasting and more help us mold the shape of our lives into the pattern of Jesus, who lived the most truly and fully human life of all.
