North Harbor’s Family Ministry department is passionate about partnering with parents to help lead kids toward a growing relationship with Jesus. We do this by connecting, learning and practicing (see below). We utilize fun, engaging, and age-specific children’s ministry environments from birth through high school graduation to ignite and grow faith in kids while providing valuable resources to support and encourage parents as the primary spiritual leaders in each child’s life.

Parent partnering is the driving force behind every aspect of Family Ministry at North Harbor. We believe that our role in your child’s faith development is secondary to yours; since parents are the primary spiritual leaders in their child’s life (Deut. 6), we strive to support, equip, and encourage parents to lead the effort in helping their child develop a life of faith.

Our incredible team of caring, trained, background-checked volunteers and staff count it a privilege to serve your family. We hope to see you this Sunday!

Kids’ Cove is our Sunday morning ministry for children ages 5th grade and younger. Our Kids’ Cove environment is uniquely crafted to inspire wonder about and faith in God by helping each child to experience the incredibly rich Biblical narrative of salvation, what we call the “Big God Story.” Learn more about our curriculum called Godly Play. Parents are encouraged to pre-teach each Sunday’s lesson, which is distributed to parents via email so that kids have even more opportunity to absorb and apply each week's Bible story. Also, weekly Kids’ Cove resources are available on our website so parents can pre-teach and/or use these resources when unable to attend church services.

In Kids’ Cove we connect. Relationship is foundational to growth, and belonging is a core desire of every human heart. Here in Kids’ Cove we place a high priority on connection between:

-the children and the Kids’ Cove volunteers. You’ll see volunteers on the floor playing with kids, coloring with kids, asking them questions about their lives and their weekly activities.

-the children themselves. We provide activities that encourage the children to play together and to work collaboratively.

- the children and God. We provide a space for kids to meet with God by teaching them about his story and teaching them to pray and be silent.  We also pray that the living God will make himself known to them in real and tangible ways.

In Kids’ Cove we learn. Each week we tell the kids a Bible story with manipulatives that they can touch and play with. We also have several activities (coloring pages, crafts, games, etc.) that help us learn about the God of the Bible and his story.

In Kids’ Cove we practice. Following Jesus' lead is a whole-life experience. Together, we practice prayer, worship through singing, silence (yes! Kids can practice silence!). Practicing these disciplines help shape our lives into the pattern of Jesus, who lived the most truly and fully human life of all.
